Somewhere I read one story. It had huge impact on me. And helped me improve my mental health. So today I am sharing this with you.

One speaker was narrating one funny incident infront of a group of people. People laughed out loud. Again he narrated that same funny incident. This time few people laughed. Then for the third time he narrated that funny incident. Now nobody laughed. The hall was silent- pindrop silence! The speaker said, “if we do not laugh at the same funny thing again and again, why do we get depressed/saddened at sad things thinking them again and again?”

From my personal experience I am sharing five important points to cope up with drepression and have a good mental health:

Take your own decision: It’s your life. So take responsibility for your good or bad whatever happens in your life. Don’t let someother person take decision for your life. Having said that keep in mind that before taking any decision you should have proper planning for pre/post decision. Do your research regarding how the decision will be helpful for you in the long run.

Start now: Do not wait for the right time to come to your life for starting any good thing. If you have passion and dedication you will definitely be successful. Just don’t give up. Some people get success after short time….somepeople get it after long time. But with passion and dedication nobody is turned back without success.

Give yourself time: Most of us tend to please others be it our workplace or our personal life. That makes us more of machine less than human. Give yourself time. “Do what you want to do, not the one others want you to do” I found this quote on one of the hostel tables during my undergrad. It impressed me! If you want to go for a solo trip, go for it. Happiness and confidence level both will be improved.

Make your bucket list: All of our dreams may not come true. But when atleast one of them becomes a reality we feel happy. So make your bucket list. Try your best. You will see you are forgetting negative things once you focus on your bucket list/the things you want to do.

Write down your feelings: Write down your feelings. Just keep on writing. At one point you will find that you have become mentor of yourself. You will push yourself to a better position.

Meditation, yoga, getting involved in charity, maintaining a healthy lifestyle etc. help to overcome depression. At last I would like to emphasize that like everything else your bad phase will also be gone. Just give yourself sometime to overcome the negative stage!
