Location: Mandvi beach is located in Kutch district at south part of Gujarat. Beach is located approximately 60kms from Bhuj, takes approx. 1 hour and 30 minutes by road. We visited Mandvi beach by hiring a cab for 10 hours.

Best time to visit: November to February is the best time to visit any part of Gujarat. There are many activities options available to the visitors hence we were told to visit at noon. But we went there in the afternoon and realized that we have less time to spend in this beautiful beach. Less crowed Mandvi beach looks marvelous during sunrise and sunset.

How to reach: From Bhuj bus station buses depart every 30 minutes. Hiring a cab is the best way to visit other attractions nearby Mandvi beach

What to wear: Mandvi is a small coastal town. During our trip we saw less tourists in the beach even though we went there during Rann Utsav time. Hence wearing very short dresses may attract unwanted attention.

What to do: Mandvi beach has lots of games options for tourists. It is a less crowded and very clean beach with soft golden-brown colored sand. Riding a quadbike, watersports like riding a waterscooter, banana boat ride, parasailing and speedboat, camel and horse ride, walking on the beach are just few of many options to indulge in. You can gorge on various delicious food items available in the beach area. During our trip we did camel ride, quadbike ride, drank refreshing coconut water and had roasted corn. Camel-ride in Mandvi was my first-ever camel ride and I was screaming in my highest pitch at first when the camel started to stand 🙂 It was a fun-filled beach-day!

My son enjoyed quadbike ride! Being a car-fan he even tried how to operate it 😛
Sunset in Mandvi Beach

Southern side of the beach is comparatively more crowed so we walked towards the north side. Magnificent sunset view with very few tourists around was the best part of our trip in Mandvi beach.

Mandvi was once a thriving port-town during 16th-17th century AD and a summer retreat of kings of Kutch region. Gradually it’s status declined although now a special type of wooden boat named dhows are still being made. It was missed during our trip alongwith Mandvi fortwall and fort gate near Brahmapuri. Shyamji Krishna Varma – prominent Indian freedom fighter and a nationalist was born in Mandvi. He founded India House in London for the students who faced problems finding accommodation during their studies. Based on his contributions to Indian politics Kranti Teerth or Shyamji Krishna Varma Memorial (approx. 8kms distance from Mandvi beach) was founded in Mandvi and replica of India House can be seen in the complex.

Windmill near the beach – formally known as The Wind Farms Beach

Mandvi Beach is located near Vijay Vilas Palace (approx. 10kms distance). Pristine and tranquil seashore with clean water – Mandvi beach is a less explored tourist destination. Hence you can enjoy a real beach day with less crowd nearby.

Swaminarayan Holy Beach – located nearby the main beach

Mandvi beach is a paradise which is yet to be popularized among the tourists. As it takes nearby one and half hours to reach Mandvi beach from Bhuj by road, the best way to enjoy this small town is by staying nearby. Vijay Vilas Palace authority provides tent accommodation at private beach. Also there are good number of hotels near the beach. Mandvi beach trip gave me lots of happy memories to cherish forever!
