March 2017. Two days before Holi festival. Manab and I started from Agartala by local train in the afternoon. It was very crowded that time. When we reached Kumarghat station I felt relieved. We took a TukTuk (battery operated rickshaw) and went to Cooperative Guest House in Pabiacherra. After showing our marriage certificate (as we were asked) we were given one room. The room was not very nice one. But we did not mind as we were there just for sleep that too for one night!
Next morning we went to the bus-stand (Kumarghat motorstand) which is located very near to the guest house. Had our breakfast in one of the shops. Boarded on Jeep Commander for Kanchanpur. From Kanchanpur we took a shared car and reached Eden Lodge.
Eden Lodge located in Bhangmun offers really good service. Room can be prebooked via Tripura Tourism. But we did not pre-book our room and were lucky to get a nice room. Breakfast-lunch-dinner were provided at the lodge.

Eden Lodge
We did not go out the day we reached Jampui as after reaching the terrace saw cottony clouds flying so near to us. We preferred to enjoy hilly views from there.

Cottony cloud over the hills
I had a sound sleep; maybe that’s the effect of majestic Jampui! From the window saw beautiful clouds over the hills…..
After breakfast we asked the lodge manager regarding vehicle for Bethlengshib (highest peak of Tripura – 930meters from sea level). He arranged one for us. On the way the driver showed us orange gardens most of which he said had become unproductive. When we reached at the bottom of Bethlingshib road, we found the road was full of mud alogwith big big holes. We preferred to walk instead of taking the car further. It was kind of trekking for me!

Towards Bethling Shib
We took few photos, enjoyed the nature. The driver showed us one point from where one foreign national man had gone down through walking just like Bear Grills! But he could not give details of that man. We continued our trekking.

Towards Bethling Shib
At Bethlingshib there’s sitting arrangement. We took rest, then went up to the tower. It was a lovely experience.

We continued to see magnificent wildness of Jampui while walking down from Bethlingshib. We came back to the lodge with unforgettable sweet memory.

Jampui
We got up early next morning and started for local tour. I did not expect to see so much different place in Tripura. I have visited many touristy places of Tripura from north to south and myself belong to Agartala. But as our car passed my eyes continued to see a totally different habitation. Flowering plants and colorful leafy plants were grown in pots or open space in front of the pretty cottages. It was Sunday. People were dressed beautifully and were out for the church (morning service).
After lunch we roamed around the Eden Lodge for some more time and admired the beauty of that place. Same car driver came to pick us up. It started raining. We started for Agartala and bid good bye to Jampui for the time being.
Tips:
- Take a pair of trekking attire and shoes as there are lots of places to trek
- Local people are very friendly so take help from them in case you are new to this place
- Come out of the car and walk to get mingled with local culture while having local area tour
- Though the road to Bethlingshib goes very near to the highest point, leave the car and trek if you are really a nature lover!
